I did this shot last year as a Christmas Card for Palm Press. We shot Santa all over Santa Monica at the Beach. It was of course July and really hot but then that is the way these things usually go. You shoot for winter in the summer and summer in the winter. I remember a shoot we did on Warner Brothers back lot in August. It was 100 degrees outside and we had people in winter coats in the mist of a plastic snow storm. It was for Lands End catalog. One of the talent got a plastic snow flake stuck flat on her eye ball. She was not a happy camper.
Shooting in LA is nice because I can shoot summer when the rest of the states are covered in snow and I can shoot winter when there is no snow because we create it using Studio special effects. I love LA.
